The Art Gallery (Műcsarnok) is organizing an exhibition of contemporary Hungarian art collections for the second time. The gallery has undertaken this noble cause because over the past few years art collecting has become a defining characteristic of Hungarian artistic life and collections represent an integral element in the formation of art values. At the same time, the distinction between works appearing in collections and in galleries is becoming ever more blurred.

This exhibition of contemporary art collections is a form of experiment designed to present contemporary Hungarian art in a new context and to examine their correlations.
The display places the emphasis on the personal aspects of collections, the relationship between artist and collector, which may be a relationship of patronage or friendship, there may even be an element of sponsorship in forming the art work, although it also introduces a pair of artist collectors as two different but typical examples of collegial relations.
